What’s funny is that in this industry, things don’t always seem as they appear.  Case in point although there will be a good amount of denial on Heidi and Spencer’s part of his lack of visibility, I can bet that very soon he will be slinging dirt on her as a changed, self-absorbed, cold woman that has broken his heart.  And little Heidi will go on to start dating C/B list stars.  My mom always told me that you don’t worry about the loud ones in life, it is always the quiet ones that cause the biggest noise.  But then again, I could be wrong as Spencer may be working on a multimillion dollar deal with HSN, Universal, and Lexus, to cross brand Heidi as true icon….then she will dump him.  So how is that fake marriage working out?  Hope you have some kind of contract like Lamar Odom and his small power forward wife.

Billy Ray has done a relatively good job helping to promote and further the career of his daughter Miley and there are always pitfalls with child actors, but when it was suggested that the Obama daughters be on the show, I almost laughed myself crazy.  What sort of addled brained idiot would think that Michelle, let alone Barack would start that kind of foolishness?  Especially now with Miley supposedly having a 20 year-old boyfriend and her barely being 16, hmmm, not the kind of people I would want my daughter to associate with at any time!!  The parenting skills of the Cyrus’ are clearly lacking as the money has made itself the adult in the relationship.  Miley has achieved great success, but even she will one day be seen as a child star if she doesn’t take the correct steps to be seen as an actress, excuse me, she probably has no designs on such a thing, I have spoken out of ignorance.  But with other exciting and young Disney stars on the rise like Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato, Miley’s time is naturally not infinite.  Read

I have never thought Sarah Palin to be an unattractive woman, I just know that when and if the rest of the facts come out regarding her misdeeds in Alaska, she will be seen as just another dirty politician.  Clearly she has her eyes set on a 2012 run, but I think Mitt Romney and a host of others may provide some opposition for her, but until then she gets to get her shine on!  Just as long as there are no interviews, why not go on SNL tonight and yuck it up.  Since I have never met the woman, I can’t say wether she is likeable or not, she seems like she is and if she were to ever leave Alaska for N.Y. or L.A. her marriage would be over and she would be dating an Actor, she justs look like the type.

Because Elizabeth in small doses is just enough, she will be staying on The View as she is an integral part of the show.  Also they promised her that she can voice her right wing opinions, just as long as she has factual evidence to back it up.  Hey, this is America and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, if you disagree, just change the channel.  Actually, who really watches The View?

Well well well, it definitely looks like an end to the present era of these “Girls Next Door” as Bridget Marquardt is now dating Marisa Tomei’s ex-boyfriend, director, Nick Carpenter.  Carpenter had just directed Bridget in a film, and that is where the two hit it off smashingly, no pun intended but it is what it is.  You know that the veritable pimp, Hugh Heffner will be all broken up for all of two hours and then it is back to business y’all.

According to TMZ, it looks like Nick Bollea will be getting an early release from Pinellas County jail on Oct 21, for good behavior a five month discount.  Oh joy, perhaps we can all join the Hogans for Buffalo Wings at Hooters, with entertainment provided by the cubs of the two cougars.  Also, we can now look forward to some piece of crap reality show about the Hogans and the tragedy that almost ripped their family apart, only on E! I hope that Nick will now learn responsibility behind the wheel because life has a uncanny way settling scores when remorse and regret are absent, I’m just sayin’.

Kendra Wilkinson, the tomboy of Heff’s television ladies, appears to have a penchant for football player as first she was involved with San Diego Charger Shawne “Lights Out” Merriman and now it is Philadelphia Eagle, Hank Baskett III.  How can I say this P.C.?  Kendra is not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer as well as being two sandwiches short of a picnic, but I am sure she is nothing if not fun and probably low maintenance, compared to her two other bunnies.  And what the heck, she is only 23 and Hank is 26, who knows they may or may not have a future, but I would tell junior to slow down on trying to wife that!  Some women and men get so caught up television personalities that sometimes their judgement goes right out the window.  But if there is one thing that I do like is that Kendra was in a private box and was not trying to get on camera, very cool and against type for most celebrities.  Read

For personal reasons, I have never been a huge fan of the Walt Disney Company runs some of their ventures, but when I read on TMZ that Miley and Billy Cyrus have been acting very ungrateful towards the proverbial hand that has fed them extremely well.  Miley Cyrus is a teen star because of the Disney Show “Hannah Montana” and not vice versa and her music career is also a product of the success of the show, but how much blame can I place on fifteen year-old?  Billy is supposed to be teaching his daughter the value, of professionalism and gratitude, such as always showing up to the set on time, prepared, and friendly to those whom you work.  Clearly HillBilly feels that Miley has outgrown Disney and is looking for her to concentrate only on her music career, but if he is not careful, I smell a Jamie Lynn/Bristol Palin incident happening to little Miss Affected.  What is so wrong is that Miley couldn’t act her way out of a $80k Mercedes CLK and to disrespect all of her peers on the show by showing up late and being a distraction is unacceptable.  Miley and her Dad will be stuck with Disney for at least another year or so, and if she doesn’t improve her behavior and acting, she will find herself playing the “I remember when” game.  Billy Ray, you are failing your daughter, you two bit producer/full-time tool!

Oh, give me a break!  The only reason to watch Denise’s show, It’s Complicated, was because of her dad Irv, now he is the true star!  Her show was like trying to talk to John McCain at 2am in the morning, a bunch of incoherent rambling about being a POW, Sarah Palin’s ass, and how no one really understands him.  Denise Richards has two very beautiful and smart daughters, but that is where the compliments end for her as she just isn’t that interesting to watch and neither have any of her movies been for the past few years.  Oh yeah, it is sooo sexy to see a mother with two impressionable children with such a foul mouth, now that is a turn on…turn off the channel.  Hopefully she will go the way of the dinosaur, aka Heather Graham.

Amy Poehler is a total gem and a helluva talent!  Will Arnett, you lucky bastard!  Anywho, not only are they expecting their first child in October, but Poehler is leaving SNL, or perhaps she already has left, once she gives birth.  Don’t feel too sorry for her as she will be headlining an Office spinoff, once she has given birth, and of course, NBC will be very understanding of her being a new mother, yeah right, money money money.  She is so gonna kick ass, and I am looking forward to this show being a hit, just so long as the actors also have some room to improv and play.  SNL isn’t totally lost, it is just time for the remaining to step their game up and make it happen.

WOW!  The propaganda and bullshit was flying in this convention center last night!!  I was considering flying to Alaska to get whatever the GOP was smoking last night as there were sooo many “pot calling the kettle black” moments and extreme exaggerations, too many to mention.  But here is what learned, Sarah Palin can read and she knows how to stick to the script, that is until John McCain puts his drink down, if they do get elected, which at some point he will most likely suffer an unfortunate accident.  I don’t trust her and I know she is a liar on so many levels!  From lying about lowering taxes, when she actually raised them in Wasilla, to her statement about leaving the country/state/a situation better than how you found it, but she left Wasilla with a debt of $20 million dollars.  The town has less than 10k friggin’ people!  I love how she, unlike John McCain, thinks the jury is out on our responsibility/accountabilty towards global warming, she wants to drill in ANWR, he doesn’t.  I also loooved how there was the whole, don’t try to use our family as a target of criticism, but we can exploit them every way possible, that cute little boy Trig, was passed around more times than a blunt in an Alaskan apartment.  My view on that was that the father, has been losing his strength and according to his physicians, he will not gain full strength back until he and his fringe group is successful in Alaska’s secession from the U.S. You know, they are making babies soo heavy these days!  I love how just when Sarah got on stage, he was like “hey, somebody hand me the baby quick!”  Trig was the smartest person in the house, not having to listen to the scripted, divisive, and hypocritical rants of an unrealistic party.  The Republicans passed over far more qualified women for this one, who will be exposed for her lies on so many issues, not to mention the chemistry between her McCain is not even believable.  Also, with all the talk of the Democrats going to raise taxes, if McCain were to win the presidency, and we were to stay in Iraq, who the hell do you think will continue to pay this $10Billion dollar a month bill?  I am sorry, but ALL OF US ARE literally paying for this war, oh and by the way homelessness and suicides are increasing for our soldiers, way to go people!  Let’s show are soldiers how much we care by miring them in redtape bullshit for medical coverage, affordable housing, etc.  Barak Obama is not perfect and has a long way to go, but one thing he does have that apparently that ticket doesn’t, is class and that is very suprising for a no good “community organizer.”  Perhaps she wouldn’t have several scandals following her and left Wasilla in such a circumstance if she really were more community centric, but I guess that’s what happens when you are celebrity in the making.  Let’s see how she handles the pressure when on her own.  McCain and Palin deserve each other, faulty temperment and judgement!  Also I enjoyed looking at the buttons that said she was the “hottest VP pick” oh, that’s not sexist is it?  I wonder if FHM or Maxim has tried to contact her people, hi-larious!

Don LaFontaine, uber movie trailer, movie, and commercial voice-over royalty has succombed to complications from a collapsed lung yesterday at the age of 68.  How apropos for a man to die on a day honoring the average hardworking man/woman, there was none more worthy with at least 400k commercial v/o’s under his belt!  There will never be one as dominant as he was, our condolences to his wife Nita and his family, friends and fans.  Godspeed brother.

Tarantino was quoted saying, “They were trying to get me to do one. I haven’t even seen the f**king show.”

I’m not a big fan of Heroes and I’m sure whatever episode he did direct would be the best yet of the series. I could certainly understand the studios reason for wanting the Pulp Fiction director to helm an episode since the series takes on a comic book life which gives the freedom to take it anywhere, which I’m sure Tarantino would take full advantage of that. His name associated with it would most likely draw the Tarantino fan base which is huge for his episode, in the hopes of keeping those fans tuning in for the rest of the episodes anticipating they’ll be just as good.

I’m glad he turned it down, cause it sounds like they’re exploiting his name and talent only to benefit the shows ratings. Tarantino has directed TV before with episodes of CSI and ER, and I often question why?

Tarantino is the man among filmmakers today, a cinematic visionary that belongs on the big screen. Period!

To quote Kanye West, “Doesn’t anybody make real shit anymore?” Well, enter “TELL ME YOU LOVE ME”, HBO’s titillating sex filled drama that’s meant to be edgy, daring, real and oh so graphic, all the things an HBO show is meant to be. If “CALIFORNICATION” had the sex scenes like “TELL ME…” does, but only sexier, it would be the best show ever! EVER!!! The graphic nature in which they display the sex could be chalked up as porn for those who disapprove of sex on TV. And for those who aren’t bothered by it, well you just might like it cause you never seen sex like this on any primetime drama before.

Aside from HBO demonstrating they can still shock the viewers, the show itself on a whole falls a bit flaccid. The intense drama revolves around 3 couples in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s all dealing with issues that plague marital life, or more accurately, marital sex life. One couple doesn’t have sex, the second couple uses it as an excuse to avoid resolving problems in a verbal manner and the third couple uses it like a tool, taking it out and using it for only one purpose, to get pregnant. The show does touch on real issues that face any relationship, particularly marriage and they use sex as it’s driving force as though it’s the saving grace to any relationship that is growing apart. Sexual attraction and chemistry is what these couples lack yet they remain intact for fear of being unhappy or lonely. And at the root of it all, nobody wants to live a life of unhappiness or loneliness But the truth of it is, that’s exactly what these couples are and they believe sex is answer to their problems. Only time will tell as we wait to see how it all unfolds.

There’s really nothing uplifting or beautiful about this show, even the sex is not very sexy. It’s in-your-face graphic sex and it does nothing to show you any ambivalence of it’s intent. However, the show is well written with sharp and truth bound dialogue that’s delivered with power from a superb cast. They do a wonderful job bringing out the reality, the sad depressing reality of a problematic relationship where one can’t help but relate to. But it’s rather shallow in its characterization, there’s no fire to these people. And if they don’t get the coals burning under their feet quickly, this show will die faster than John From Cincinnati. The sex alone may not be enough to keep people coming ever week, no pun intended!

CAUTION: GRAPHIC LANGUAGE USED!

On another note, let’s talk briefly about sex in TV. In “Tell Me…” they go to lengths to show you a mans twig and berries, a visual feast of a wife stroking off her husband to point of visible ejaculation and oral sex given by a 67 year old woman. Now, as gratuitous as this is or offending as one might think it is, it still managed to make it’s way on paid cable. Question: how does this get the approval to go on air with these EXPLICIT SEX SCENES but movies like Michael Winterbottoms “9 SONGS” and Larry Clark’s “KEN PARK” gets banned from the USA? Yes, both films are explicit in their sex, even more explicit than HBO’s new series. But what’s the real difference between showing actual penetration and showing a hand job to the point of ejaculation? You’ve already past that shock point of what is considered to be obscene, so once again, why is one accepted and the other not? This I find disconcerting and frustrating. But that’s America for you. Its conservative and moralistic attitude is what’s keeping the artistic freedom of idealistic artists at bay, forcing them to go to Canada or Europe. It’s sad really. Not being able to share and express yourself in a visual way by the very fabric of which bounds love and life itself, SEX!
